The quaint Royal Madras Yacht Club (RMYC) nestled amidst the busy Chennai Port was buzzing with activity as sailors geared up for the second day of competitive sailing. After an early lunch, participants set off to the racing site. The first race saw K Yakobu and his crew, Rajeev Kumar (AWSA), the defending champions, proving why they are worthy of the title by coming in first by a clear margin. Imolemnok and Ashok Kumar of INWTC followed soon after. Zephra Currimbhoy and Meaghanaa (RMYC) gave the men a run for their money by finishing third.

Due to unforeseen ship movement the other two races could not be conducted as scheduled. Yet, the sight of the pristine white sails amidst the blue sea was absolutely stunning and it was “Aquatainment” at its best!

Provisional results at the end of 4 races are:

First : Yakabo & Rajeev Kumar (AWSA) 7 points

Second : Shiv Rekhi & Ankit George (RMYC) 14 points

Third : Upamanyu Dutta & Hussain Arsiwala (RBYC) 23 points

Racing continues till Wednesday.

Day - 1, 08/06/2013
